MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Football announced its 2026 schedule Friday in conjunction with the Sun Belt Conference.
South's 2026 schedule features 12 games overall, six of which will be played at Hancock Whitney Stadium. The Jaguars will travel to challenge an SEC opponent for the third-straight season when they visit Kentucky on Saturday, Sept. 26. USA will also play two mid-week conference games that will be nationally televised on ESPN's family of networks, and will host the Battle for the Belt against Troy in November.
The season opens on Sept. 5 when the Jags host Southeastern Louisiana at Hancock Whitney Stadium. South hosted SLU in its 2023 home opener and earned a 35-17 victory. The Jaguars will then hit the road for the first time on Sept. 12 when they take on Tulane for the third time in the last-four seasons. After hosting Ohio on Sept. 19, the trip to Kentucky will wrap up South's non-conference schedule.
Sun Belt Conference play opens on Oct. 3 when the Jaguars host ULM. South Alabama has won four-straight against the Warhawks, and five of the last-six meetings. The Jags will then play their first of two-straight mid-week, conference games. USA will travel to Arkansas State on Thursday, Oct. 8 before making its first-ever trip to Marshall on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
South Alabama will host new Sun Belt member Louisiana Tech at Hancock Whitney Stadium on Halloween. The Jaguars and Bulldogs have met three times before, but the Oct. 31 meeting will mark the first contest as conference rivals. South will then travel to Louisiana on Nov. 7 before hosting rival Troy on Nov. 14 in the Battle for the Belt.
The final road game of the season for the Jaguars will take place on Nov. 21 when the Jags make the quick trip to Southern Miss. South Alabama improved its all-time record against the Golden Eagles to 6-0 last season. The Jags will then close the regular season at home against App State on Saturday, Nov. 28. The last time the Jaguars and Mountaineers battled, South won in dominating fashion by a score of 48-14 on national television.
