LINCOLN, Neb. – For the second week in a row, South Alabama Track & Field broke another school record at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite and recorded multiple other top finishes to close an impressive week.
South Alabama's men opened competition Friday in the weight throw. Samuel Mika smashed the school record with a toss of 19.84 meters (65-1 ¼) , taking fourth place overall in a competition against several other Power Four competitors. Joshua Acker placed 10th with a throw of 17.56 meters (57-7.5), and Bobby Gray secured 14th with a toss of 16.47 meters (54-0.5).
On the women's side, Iyana Johnson earned the highest finish in the weight throw, finishing 11th overall with a throw of 17.49 meters (57'4.75). Flora Dupans and Dawson Wright both notched finishes in the Top 25. Dupans placed 21st with a hurl of 15.11 meters (49-7) and Wright finished 23rd with a toss of 14.49 meters (47-6.5).
Johnson also went on to take eighth in the Triple Jump, with a season-best leap of 11.73 meters (38-6).
The Jags closed competition Saturday in the men's and women's shot put. Wright and Dupans led the way for South Alabama's women. Wright earned 12th with a throw of 13.35 meters (43-9.75) and Dupans placed 14th. In the final event of the weekend, Mika and Acker finished Top 15 in the shot put. Mika snagged an 11th place finish with a throw of 16.75 meters (54-11.5), while Acker earned 14th.

South Alabama Track & Field will wrap up its' regular season competition with a split weekend as several athletes will be sent to Samford Invitational and the Music City Invite on Feb.13.
