Preview: LSU and McNeese State

MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama softball will open up a busy week with a pair of back-to-back midweek contests beginning with a road trip to No. 20 LSU on Tuesday at Tiger Park and then a home contest versus McNeese State on Wednesday at Jaguar Field.

NOTES
•    The two midweek games begin a stretch in which South will play six games in six days, as it will host the South Alabama Invitational this weekend
•    LSU holds a 10-game win streak in the series and has won 15 of the 16 series meetings in Baton Rouge
•    South Alabama's lone win at Tiger Park came during the 2015 season, a 2-1 decision
•    The back-to-back midweek games mark the first time in program history that the Jaguars have done so
•    Gracie Dees (.323) enters the game with an eight-game hit streak, and Presley Lively (.385) has reached base safely in all 10 games this spring
•    Seven different Jaguars have homered with Olivia Branstetter and Lillie Stagner doing so twice
•    Of South's 66 hits thus far during the 2026 season, 47 percent have gone for extra bases (31 hits - 19 doubles, 3 triples and 9 home runs)
•    Last season, only 27 percent of South Alabama's 323 hits went for extra bases
•    South Alabama is 1-0 this spring against both the SEC and the Southland Conference, having defeated Missouri and Southeastern Louisiana at the NFCA Leadoff Classic during the opening weekend of the season
