The Jaguars enter the meet with momentum following a strong showing at LSU, highlighted by multiple event victories, record-book performances, and Sun Belt weekly honors. South Alabama will look to build on that success in one of the premier indoor facilities in the region.
Jordan Morrison and Samuel Mika headline the Jaguars' lineup after earning Sun Belt Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors. Morrison, the Sun Belt Track Athlete of the Week, captured the 800 meters title at LSU with a time of 1:54.20 and will look to continue his strong indoor campaign in Birmingham. Mika, the Sun Belt Field Athlete of the Week, enters the meet coming off a personal-best performance in the shot put (17.66m), a mark that ranks second all-time in South Alabama's indoor record books.
Will Frederick continues to lead the vertical jumps after clearing 5.10m in the pole vault at LSU, a mark that ranks among the top performances nationally this season. The women's 4x400-meter relay group looks to build on a season-best performance, while the throws, jumps, sprints, and distance groups all aim to post additional season and personal bests on home-state soil.
Sunday's USA Invitational provides another key opportunity for South Alabama to evaluate progress early in the indoor season while competing against strong regional competition in a championship-caliber environment.
