BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – South Alabama Women's Tennis opened fall competition at the Samford Round Robin in Birmingham, Ala., this weekend. The Jaguars made an impression in doubles, going 5-9 against Troy, Samford and Jacksonville State combined.
DAY ONE:
On the first day of action,
Manal Ennaciri/
Kenza Elakili and
Ava Rath/
Jade Marie each earned wins in doubles matches against Samford (6-1 and 7-6, respectively), with Ennaciri and
Rio Maeda each picking up wins in singles against Jacksonville State.
DAY TWO:
The second day was the most successful for the Jags, going 2-3 in doubles against Troy and 5-6 in singles against Samford. Maeda, Marie, Elakili, Rath, and newcomer
Jana Rovira picked up the singles wins.
DAY THREE:
On their final day on the court,
Rio Maeda/
Jana Rovira picked up the Jags' lone doubles win over Jacksonville State. Maeda and
Jade Marie each won their singles matches, both going into three sets.
UP NEXT:
The Jags will compete in the Mercer Gridiron Classic on Oct. 3-5 in Macon, Ga.
