Jaguar Women’s Basketball to Host Akron in 2025 MAC-SBC Challenge

NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt and Mid-American Conferences announced the first round of matchups for the 2025-26 MAC-SBC Challenge on Tuesday. South Alabama women's basketball is set to host Akron on Monday, Nov. 3, at the Mitchell Center.

The MAC-SBC Challenge is a scheduling alliance in which 13 Mid-American teams compete against 13 Sun Belt teams. There are two rounds – the first tipping off the 2025-26 season, and the second taking place midway through the season.

The first set of matchups is based on projected NET rankings, geography and frequency of past contests. Each team competing in the challenge is guaranteed one home and one away game within that season.

After not competing in last year's challenge, Head Coach Yolisha Jackson looks to welcome an Akron team that went 10-21 overall and 4-14 in conference play last season. This is the first-ever matchup between the Jags and the Zips.

The Jaguars return several players, including standouts Daniela Gonzalez and Chrysta Narcisse, who started 13 games or more last season. Gonzalez was last season's second-highest scorer.

Each MAC-SBC Challenge game will be carried on an ESPN platform.
