MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama softball will open up Sun Belt Conference play this weekend with a three-games series versus James Madison at Jaguar Field. Due to expected weather, the original schedule has been altered. The two teams are scheduled to open the series on Friday night with a doubleheader with game times set for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. The series finale is set for Sunday at 12 p.m.

South Alabama (11-15, 0-0 SBC) enters the weekend series versus James Madison after falling 15-4 in five innings to 22nd-ranked Alabama on Tuesday night, extending its losing streak to a season-high seven games.
Gabby Stagner (.352) is tied for second in the Sun Belt in home runs and tied for 30th in the category nationally with eight this season. The senior first baseman also ranks sixth in the league in RBI (25), OPS (1.259) and slugging percentage (.789). Stagner currently ranks second all-time at South Alabama in career home runs (35), just one shy of matching Kamdyn Kvistad's program mark.
Sidney Lee (.328) leads the club with seven doubles, which are tied for seventh in the league, and ninth in on-base percentage (.443).
Olivia Branstetter (.294) is second on the club in RBI with 16 and her 16 walks are second most.
Presley Lively is also batting .297 and the true freshman leads the Sun Belt triples (3) and walks (18), while her 12 stolen bases (41st in the NCAA) are third-most in the league, as well as her runs scored (26). Six of Lively's hits have gone for extra bases, including an inside-the-park home run, and her three triples are tied for 23rd in the NCAA.
Led by Lively, South currently leads the SBC and ninth nationally in walks with 110, and holds four of the top 10 spots in the league: Lively, Branstetter (16, fifth),
Amity White (14, sixth) and Stagner (13, 10th). As a team, South is tied with Marshall for the league-lead in triples (10), ranks second in hit-by-pitch (26), and Top 5 in runs scored (132), on-base percentage (.390) and RBI (115).
