Jags Struggle in Loss at Samford

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – South Alabama Men's Tennis struggled to gain any momentum Sunday afternoon in a tough, 1-6 loss at Samford.

The loss dropped the Jaguars to 2-2 for the season.

"Samford came to play today and we didn't. It's that simple," said South Alabama head coach Nick Brochu. "We can't expect to win just because it says South Alabama on your shirt. You have to be ready to play. Today is extremely disappointing and we've really got to make a quick turnaround, because UAB will be dangerous tomorrow."

After quickly dropping the doubles point, singles play was much of the same for the Jags. Harold van Raemdonck was one of the few bright spots on the day as he defeated his Samford opponent 6-3, 6-0. With the victory, van Raemdonck improved to 3-0 for the season in singles competition. The Belgium native played in the No. 6 spot Sunday afternoon.

The Jags face a quick turnaround as they will remain in Birmingham to challenge UAB on Monday. First serve is at 1 p.m. CT.
