MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Women's Basketball is set to host Akron for the MAC-SBC Challenge at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Mitchell Center, opening the 2025-26 season.
SERIES HISTORY:
Monday's game will mark the first matchup between the Jags and the Zips.
SCOUTING THE JAGS:
- The Jags enter this season with seven returners and eight newcomers.
- Notable returners include Chrysta Narcisse, Alicia Spann and Daniela Gonzalez, who led the team in made three-pointers (36), total rebounds (184), blocks (27) and assists (60).
- Among this year's newcomers is Miyah Holmes, Ronaltha Marc, Chloe Donnell, Amyah Sutton, Cordasia Harris, Tamara Ortiz, Diawna Carter-Hartley and Jeriyah Baines. Marc and Harris both bring impressive resumes to Our City, ranking 8th in the Big South in steals (48) and being named to the Second Team All-SWAC, respectively.
SCOUTING THE ZIPS:
- The Zips begin this year's slate after going 10-21 overall last season (4-14 in conference play).
- Akron ranked second in the MAC in offensive rebounds (12.30) and fourth in rebounding (37.3), blocked shots (2.77) and rebounding margin (4.0).
