COOKEVILLE, Tenn.- The South Alabama soccer team completed a thrilling come from behind victory over Tennessee Tech in a 3-2 final.
The hosts would come out firing quickly in the first half as they converted on a penalty kick goal in the 11th minute that was immediately followed up with a goal in the 12th minute to give the Eagles the early 2-0 advantage. The Jags continued to fight as they increased their aggressiveness on offense.
Sydney Magliocca would connect with
Laurie-Ann Moise as the Cal-State Fullerton transfer netted her first career goal to bring the Jags to within one. South Alabama continued to put pressure on the Eagles and would go into the half down 2-1 with plenty of momentum.
Right as the second half began, the Jags answered in a major way as
Irene Campo hit the corner of the goal to even the game and give South even more momentum. Both teams continued to fight and garner several opportunities as the score remained deadlocked. In the 77th minute,
Monique Gray converted on the game winning goal thanks to a beautiful dish by
Irene Campo to complete South's thrilling 3-2 comeback victory.
