MOBILE, Ala.- The South Alabama soccer team notched together an impressive 2-0 victory over Lamar to get their first win at The Cage this season.
The Jags opened up the game early as
Irene Campo converted on a spectacular cross from
April Lantaigne in the 39th minute to give South Alabama the 1-0 lead. South kept being aggressive for the remainder of the half, finding several offensive opportunities as well as lockdown defense. The Jags would enter the half leading 1-0.
South continued to attack the Cardinal defense at the start of the second half and would capitalize on an own goal after
Monique Gray placed the ball right in front of South's goal to take a 2-0 lead. The Cardinals would make a few more pushes towards South, but was met by a strong defensive presence that kept them at bay. South would go on to grab the 2-0 victory for their first home win of the regular season.
