PARIS, France — South Alabama discus thrower Francois Prinsloo fell short in the qualifying rounds of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games Monday morning in Stade De France Stadium.
Prinsloo hurled a top throw of 61.35 meters (201'3"), putting him in 13th place in Group A of the Discus qualifying rounds at the Olympics and leaving him out of the top 12 competitors heading to the Finals on Wednesday, Aug.7.
This closes an incredible year and a historic South Alabama career for Prinsloo. He has claimed six total Sun Belt conference titles, three straight NCAA East Regional Titles, an NCAA Championship, and an Olympic Games appearance.
Francois will now hope to embark on a professional career in the discus and hopes to make it back to the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028.
