FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. | South Alabama will close out its three-week road swing this weekend when it competes at the Razorback Rumble hosted by 18th-ranked Arkansas at Bogle Park.
The Jaguars (12-5-1), who received votes this week in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 poll will open up play with a pair of games on Friday versus Northern Iowa at 12:15 p.m. and the host Razorbacks at 4:45 p.m. South will also have a pair of games on Saturday – vs. Nebraska at 12:15 p.m. and vs. Arkansas at 7 p.m. – before closing out competition on Sunday with a single game against Saint Francis scheduled to start at 10 a.m.

South Alabama enters the Razorback Rumble after going 2-1-1 last weekend at the T-Mobile Crimson Classic hosted by Alabama. After suffering a one-run loss on the opening night of the tournament, the Jaguars bounced back with a run-rule victory over Northern Iowa and then a 2-0 shutout of 10th-ranked Alabama, before tying 15th-ranked Arizona on Sunday in 11 innings before the game was called due to the Wildcats' travel plans.
Olivia Lackie (8-3) holds a 0.92 earned run average and has struck out 76 batters, while holding opponents to a .130 batting average. Freshman
Ryley Harrison (3-1) has a 1.30 ERA this spring and is among the NCAA leaders in shutouts with three. Sophomore
Madison Lagle has emerged as another valuable arm for the Jaguars this spring, as she is 1-0 with a 2.21 ERA.Â
Offensively,
Gabby Stagner leads the team with a .429 average, which ranks third in the Sun Belt, and a .911 slugging percentage, and has a team-high 24 hits on the year with 13 of those going for extra bases. The Mobile, Ala., native also leads the team with 20 RBI and has scored 18 runs, while also leading the team with seven multi-hit games and five multi-RBI efforts.
Three other players are also batting above .300 this spring:
Sasha Willems (.323),
Mackenzie Brasher (.317) and
Olivia Branstetter (.315). Willems has driven in nine runs and scored seven times, and has caught all 121 innings behind the plate. Willems has 20 hits, while Brasher has 19 and has scored 17 runs. Brasher is also a perfect 11-for-11 on the base paths in her stolen base opportunities. In her first season, Branstetter ranks second on the team with 10 runs driven in.
