Jaguars Continue on the Road with Four Games at Gamecock Invitational

MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama will continue its road swing this weekend as the Jaguars travel to compete in the Gamecock Invitational hosted by South Carolina at Carolina Stadium at Beckham Field.

The Jaguars (8-2) will open up tournament action on Friday morning versus UMass with first pitch versus the Minutewomen set for 9 a.m. (CT). South will continue play on Saturday with a pair of games versus Charlotte at 9 a.m. (CT) and against South Carolina (2 p.m. (CT) before closing out things on Sunday at 9 a.m. (CT) versus James Madison.

Live stats and audio broadcast links can be accessed on the softball schedule page. Saturday's game versus the Gamecocks will also be streamed on SECNetwork+.

South Alabama enters the Gamecock Invitational after picking up a 9-1, run-rule road victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday night. Olivia Lackie (6-1) struck out eight and held SELA's offense to just four hits and only allowed an unearned run. The Lions entered the game averaging six runs a game and batting .386 as a team, but Lackie was able to nearly shut them out.

Mackenzie Brasher, Gabby Stagner and Olivia Branstetter each had two hits apiece, while Brasher also scored twice, and Stagner and Branstetter crossed the plate three times with the latter also driving in a run

Sasha Willems is batting .441 this spring and has driven in eight runs and scored six, while catching all 66 innings behind the plate. Stagner (.500 avg / 1.029 slg%) has a team-high 17 hits on the year with 10 of those going for extra bases. The Mobile, Ala., native also leads the team with 11 RBI and has scored 13 runs. Brasher (.424) has been sold at the plate, as she has 14 hits and like Stagner, she has scored a team-best 13 runs, while she is also a perfect 7-for-7 in her stolen base attempts.

Lackie holds a 0.86 earned run average, has struck out 48 batters and is holding opponents to a .127 batting average.
