MOBILE, Ala.- The South Alabama women's basketball team is set to kick off the regular season as they take on Delta State at home on Monday, Nov. 4 at the Mitchell Center at 5 p.m.
The game will be a part of a doubleheader, with the men facing Central Michigan following the game.Â
This will be year two of the
Yolisha Jackson era at South, with high expectations to follow.Â

- The Jags are looking to build off a successful recruiting class as well as multiple returners from last year's squad.Â
- This officially begins year two of the Yolisha Jackson era, with high expectations to follow.Â
- South welcomes eight new faces to the roster as well as seven returners.Â
- The Jags will be led by senior guard Jordan Rosier, who averaged 10.3 ppg in the 2023-24 season while also leading the Sun Belt in three point percentage as well as threes made.Â
- Another key returner to the Jags is Rachel Leggett, who averaged 10.4 ppg, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.Â
- Several newcomers such as Terren Coffil, Amyria Walker, and Alicia Spann look to be big additions for the Jags this season.Â
Delta State Notes
- Delta State welcomes first year head coach Tracy Stewart-Lange, who comes to the Statesmen after a successful tenure as head coach at Lyon College where she had a 366-167 overall record.Â
- Delta State is coming off a 14-15 season in which they also finished with a 12-12 record in GSC play.Â
- Grace Watson leads the charge for Delta State, as she is coming off a 2023-24 season in which she averaged 9.1Â points per game and 6.7 rebounds.Â

- South is 1-1 all time against Delta State with their last matchup resulting in a 96-93 win on January 30, 1985.Â
