MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama's
Olivia Lackie was named to Softball America's Top 25 Pitchers List on Tuesday, as she was ranked 21st at the position by the organization.
The Walker, La., native was one of two Sun Belt pitchers to be named on the list (Texas State's Jessica Mullens; No. 20).
The honor is the third of the preseason for Lackie as she was ranked No. 49 on Softball America's Top 100 List on Monday and No. 50 on D1Softball's Top 100 Players List last week.
Last spring, Lackie became the first player in program history a year ago to be named the Sun Belt's Pitcher of the Year and earned first-team all-league honors for the third-straight season after finishing with a 21-6 record, two saves, a 1.52 earned run average and 214 strikeouts. Lackie also earned NFCA all-South Region accolades for the third-straight season, picking up second-team honors, and became just the second player in program history to be a three-time all-region selection (
Hannah Campbell, 2011-13).
She broke
Devin Brown's program single-season mark for SBC Pitcher of the Week selections with six, which were tied for fourth-most in a season by a Sun Belt pitcher.
Lackie set both the single-season (12) and career (31) marks for shutouts at South Alabama in 2023, and ranked among the NCAA leaders in shutouts (second) with 12, just one shy of the top honor in the category, while also ranking among leaders in strikeouts (17th), wins (t23rd), ERA (23rd) and strike-to-walk ratio (27th).
Led by Lackie, the Jaguar pitching staff ranks as of the top in the nation tied for seventh with two other teams in shutouts (19), tied for eighth in earned run average (1.63), 11th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.97) and tied for 16th in strikeouts (361).
