Over the course of this month leading up to the start of the 2023 South Alabama football season, we will preview all the positions groups on the Jaguar roster.

The nine-part series examines each position group ahead of the season opener versus Tulane at Yulman Stadium on Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. This installment looks at South Alabama's running backs.

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
- Along with second-team preseason all-SBC honors from the league coaches as well as all-conference accolades from four different publications, Webb has been named to three preseason watch lists – the Maxwell Award, the Doak Walker Award and the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List
- Webb set new season records a year ago in rush attempts (209), rushing yards (1,063) and total touchdowns (15), and tied Brandon Ross' mark for rushing touchdowns with 13 set during the 2009 season
- McReynolds (59 – 326) and Lee (67 – 247) combined to rush for 573 yards on 126 carries and were only credited with a total of 10 negative rushing yards. 
- As a unit, the group only lost a total of 45 yards, while gaining a net of 1,961 on a total of 413 carries
- Damean Bivens, who has battled injury during his Jaguar career, has decided to move on after battling injury issues and receiving his degree over the summer
