Odalys Cordova and Puerto Rico will compete this week at the XVII Softball World Cup in Group B, which will be held at Camp Municipal de Beisbol Sofbol de Valencia beginning on Tuesday and continue through Saturday.
The five-day Group B pool play opens up with Puerto Rico taking on No. 11 China in the opening round, followed by contest versus No. 38 South Africa (July 19), No. 28 Cuba (July 20), No. 10 Netherlands and No. 12 Spain (July 21), before wrapping up competition with a playoff game on July 22.
Group A play took place in Fingal-Dublin, Ireland (July 11-15) with the United States and Australia advancing, while Group C will be played at Campo Comunale da Softball in Castions di Strada and Campo da Baseball-Softball G. Michelutti in Buttrio, Italy from July 22-26.
The top two nations from each group will advance to the World Cup Finals, scheduled for July 15-21, 2024 in Italy.

Puerto Rico enters the event ranked No. 4 in the world after defeating Cuba, 2-0 in the Central America and Caribbean Games in San Salvador. Cordova – who earned a spot on the roster earlier this summer – drove in one of Puerto Rico's two runs in the fourth inning of the championship contest.
