Series first of two-straight on the road for South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. |  

South Alabama (29-13, 11-4 SBC) and Georgia Southern (17-23, 6-9 SBC) will open up the series on Friday with first pitch set for 5 p.m. (CT), while games two and three are scheduled for Saturday (1 p.m.) and Sunday (11 a.m.), respectively.

•    South Alabama holds a 15-7 record in the all-time series, but Georgia Southern has won six of the nine meetings in Statesboro
•    Victoria Ortiz holds a career-best 19-game reached base safely streak, which is one shy of moving the Top 10 at South 
•    Meredith Keel (.350) and Victoria Ortiz (.339) lead the club at the plate
•    Keel also leads the team in hits (43), and she has scored 31 runs, recorded eight doubles and 17 RBI
•    Ortiz has 39 hits and is tied for the club lead in doubles (9), while leading the team in home runs (6), RBI (36) and 68 total bases
•    Keel leads the team with 12 multi-hit games, while Ortiz has 10 multi-hit outings and 10 multi-RBI games this spring
•    Over her last 10 games, Sasha Willems is batting .458, while both her and Ortiz are batting a team-best .378 versus conference foes
•    Olivia Lackie (Pitcher) and Bailey Welch (Player) are the reigning Sun Belt Conference Players of the Week
•    Lackie enters the weekend series tied with South Dakota State's Tori Kniesche for the NCAA lead in solo shutouts as she has 10 this spring, and ranks among the Top 35 nationally in wins, strike outs and ERA
•    Lackie (29) is two shutouts shy of moving into a tie with former Jag Devin Brown (31, 2015-18), the program's all-time leader in the category
•    South is 10th in the NCAA in shutouts (16), tied for 11th in ERA, 16th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.44) and 23rd in strikeouts
