Head Coach Mark Calvi
- On the loss:
"We just got beat today. I thought (Garfield) Johns wasn't as sharp this week as last week. We cleaned some things up defensively. We made one miscue, the ball kind of in no-man's land in center field. We've got to make that play, but our guys competed hard. We got five or six hits, leadoff men on and we got some hits. We're just missing that big hit with men on and two outs. We rolled into a couple of double plays that killed us. We'd start the inning off right, but then we'd roll into a double play and then hit a double. Instead of scoring two or three, we'd score one. It's just a matter of putting it all together, getting a hit with second and third and two outs or that big bases-clearing double with two outs.

"(Garza) came out of the pen with a pretty good slider. Then his second inning he started mixing in some changeups to lefties and gave us some problems. I thought we got some good swings off on him, and had nothing to show for it. We had some guys on the first two innings and didn't score. It would have been nice to answer there when we were down 2-0. But I thought our guys competed hard. It was a stark contrast defensively to yesterday. If we can keep moving forward and play good defense — we've got some arms, I think we have to get them in the right order. And we've got to start swinging the bats. We've got a couple of guys who aren't off to good starts, and a couple who are off to good starts. It's just a matter of them all jelling and working together offensively."Â
