NEW ORLEANS, La. – Martin Bugaj of South Alabama men's tennis was named the Sun Belt Men's Tennis Player of the week, the conference announced Wednesday. The honor is the first of his career.
 
Bugaj posted a perfect record over the weekend, winning his singles and doubles matches in South's match against No. 15 Florida State. Bugaj earned a ranked win at number five singles, beating #71 Jamie Connel in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. Bugaj's win was the lone win for the Jags in singles play.
 
In doubles, Bugaj's win with partner Javier Montoya helped contribute to South Alabama winning the doubles point.
 
Bugaj is currently 8-0 on the season in singles, the only Jaguar undefeated in singles play
this season.
