MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama signed a pair of student-athletes on National Signing Day Tuesday, adding to the four mid-year transfers that arrived on campus in January. The signings bring the total to 18 for the class dating back to the early signing period in December.
The Jags added record-setting running back
Patrick "PJ" Martin from De La Salle High School in New Orleans (La.) who finished with 2,248 yards rushing and 35 touchdowns (33 rushing). He was a first team All-State selection in Class 4A, helping his team to an undefeated regular season.
They also added Mobile-native
La'Dareyen Craig, a transfer from Mississippi Gulf Coast, who finished with 50 total tackles last season, He recorded a career-high 11 tackles against Pearl River with eight solo stops after initially signing and playing his first year at South Carolina. Craig played his prep football at Baker High School where he earned All-State honors.
The two join four mid-year transfers including
Javon Ivory from Memphis, a native of Grove Hill (Ala.). Ivory hauled in 46 receptions last season at Memphis for 586 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He caught at least one pass in every game, including a season-high seven against Navy (89 yards) and Tulsa (123 yards). They also added running backÂ
Kentrel Bullock from Ole Miss where he played in three games last season, mostly on special teams. As a sophomore, carried the ball 17 times including nine times against Tulane for 52 yards. He was rated as a 4-star and the No. 7 prospect from the state of Mississippi in high school where he rushed for 1,966 yards and 33 total touchdowns during his senior season.
The Jags added a pair of offensive line transfers including South Carolina transfer
Jordan Davis who was prepped at Creekside (Ga.) High School where he led his team to the second round of the Georgia AAAAA state playoffs. He also earned All-State honors as an offensive tackle. He joins
Reed Buys, a transfer from Mississippi State, who started his career at Jones (Miss.) CC where he appeared in six games before an injury sidelined him for the rest of 2019.
