Jaguars travel to Colorado for Denver Classic

MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama will travel to Colorado for the holiday weekend, as the Jaguars will play two games in the Denver Classic, hosted by the University of Denver.
 
The Jaguars will open the tournament with a match-up versus the Nevada Wolf Pack on Friday, Nov. 24 at 12 p.m. CT, before taking on the Denver Pioneers Saturday at 2 p.m. CT. Both games will be streamed on the Summit League Network.
 
The Jaguars and the Wolf Pack will be meeting for the first time, while South Alabama and Denver are meeting for the first time since 2012.
 
South Alabama (3-1) is coming off a loss at the hands of #12 Florida State, falling 45-80 in the contest. Nevada is 2-2 on the season, coming off a loss to Oregon. Denver is 1-2 on the year and will play Central Arkansas on Friday before their matchup with the Jags.

South Alabama Notes
  • South is coming off a 45-80 loss at No. 12 Florida State.  
  • South Alabama has started the same five in all four games this season, plus the exhibition. The Jaguar starters are averaging 49.1 points per game for South and 25.8 rebounds.
  • South returns 73.6% of its scoring from a year ago, including SBC Freshman of the Year Kelsey Thompson, who led the Jaguars with 10.7 points per game.
  • South Alabama also returned its leading rebounder, Kiana Anderson, who averaged 5.8 rpg last season.

  • Denver added former University of Indianapolis forward Lauren With and Grand Canyon University guard Laila McLeod to add experience to the 2023-24 roster. In addition to the two transfers, Woods has added three freshmen to the 2023-24 roster.
