MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama football hits the road on Saturday to open Sun Belt Conference play the defending champion Louisiana with kick set for 4 pm on ESPN+ at Cajun Field.
South Alabama (3-1) enters following a 38-14 victory over Louisiana Tech, its fourth straight game of 30-plus points offensively. The Jags are led by junior quarterback
Carter Bradley who sits in the top 50 nationally in 11 different offensive categories, and junior running back
La'Damian Webb who is the top 50 in eight different categories. Senior receiver
Jalen Wayne ranks in four categories nationally and has moved up the career reception list to fourth all-time, while fellow receiver
Caullin Lacy is fifth in the nation in punt returns and enters as the reigning Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
Offensively, South ranks among the nation's best averaging 38.8 points per game (29th), total offense (44th/450.0), rushing offense (61st/169.5), and passing offense (35th/280.5).
Meanwhile, defensively, the Jags are quietly one of the best in the country ranking 27th overall in total defense at 308.5 yards per game. They also rank in top half of the country in rushing defense (17th/86.8) and passing defense (67th/221.8).
Yam Banks ranks in the top 25 in four different categories including ninth overall in total interceptions – two – one of which was a pick-six last week against Louisiana Tech.

GAME NOTES
- South Alabama kicker Diego Guajardo currently leads the nation in field goals, converting on each of his attempts this season. His only miss was a PAT on the road at Central Michigan that hit off both uprights.
- The Jags are still seeking their first series win at Cajun Field, falling in each of the previous five meetings.
- South Alabama will be playing its second of three straight games against a school from the state of Louisiana this weekend after a defeating Louisiana Tech last weekend. The Jags will have a week off before facing ULM at home on Oct. 15 for homecoming.
- This game also marks the third game of the season against a team from the state of Louisiana after the Jags opened the year at home against Nicholls.
- South Alabama is currently 15th overall in the nation in time of possession at 33:39 and are tied for eighth in fumbles recovered with five.
- The Jags forced five turnovers against Louisiana Tech in their final non-conference game of the season including four consecutive. Banks helped provide a spark on defense with a pair of interceptions and a fumble recovery.
