Jaguar Cross Country travels to the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite on Friday

MOBILE, Ala. | The South Alabama men's and women's cross country teams return to competition after a week off as they travel to the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite at Burke Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind. The women's 5k race starts at 1:30 p.m., and the men's 5 mile race will follow at 2:15 p.m.

Pre-Race Notes
  • This is the first race for the Jags outside the state of Alabama.
  • All five runners for the women's team have improved on their 5k times from the first race to the second race this season.
  • Magaud posted a top-20 finish in her last race at the South Region Preview.
  • Yego has eight top-10 finishes in his career after coming in second at the South Region Preview on Sept. 16.
  • All six of the men runners set personal bests in the 8k distance in their last race.
  • This is the first 5 mile race of the season for the Jaguars.
  • The Jags last competed at a meet hosted by Notre Dame on Sept. 29, 2006 (Notre Dame Invitational)
  • Men placed 12th out of 20 teams, while the women finished 24th.
  • Two-time cross-country All-American Tonny Okello placed sixth overall for the 8k (5 mile) distance with a time of 23:54, which at that time was the fourth-fastest at the distance in program history.
