BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – South Alabama women's tennis earned six wins in day one of the Samford Invitational – two doubles wins and four singles wins. The Jags went undefeated in singles.
 
The Jags played Middle Tennessee in singles and Samford in doubles.
 
Elysia Pool, Luminita Tutunaru, Tereza Dejnozkova and Otoha Aoki won their singles matches against MTSU. The doubles partners of Tutunaru and Dejnozkova and Caraline Scheufler with Cora Barber of Tulane won their doubles matchups.
 
South will face Tulane in doubles play and Samford in singles on Saturday.

"Results wise, it was definitely a solid start to the pre-season today. I thought there were some mini blocks of good quality play but more importantly I saw some signs of maturity and toughness during stressful match situations. I know we have plenty talent and will have plenty talent by January. The question that we need to answer this pre-season will be if we have the discipline to mentally engage every day and understand that talent does not mean much until you embrace and enjoy the daily grind. Good start to the season with tomorrow another great opportunity to improve."
