MOBILE, Ala. – Former South Alabama student-athletes Kaitlyn Beans (women's track & field – 2014-17), Jan-Louw Kotze (men's track & field – 2013-17), Jordan Patterson (baseball – 2011-13) and Nini Rabsatt-Smith (women's soccer – 2012-15) have been selected for induction and will enter the University of South Alabama Athletic Hall of Fame later this fall, along with Stephen Small (men's soccer – 1988-89, '91-92) who was part of the 2021 induction class, but was unable to attend the ceremony a year ago.

With their inclusion — set to take place on Saturday, November 12 at the Moulton Bell Tower — the USA Athletic Hall of Fame will now include 103 student-athletes, coaches and administrators who have been recognized since 1989.  The five will also be honored on the field at halftime of the Jaguars' football game that day against Texas State at Hancock Whitney Stadium.

Kaitlyn Beans, Women's Track & Field, 2014-17
• Earned second-team All-America honors in the triple jump at the NCAA Outdoor Championship as a junior and was an honorable mention All-American each of her first two seasons at South
• Qualified for the NCAA East Region Preliminary Round in the event as a senior also
• Named the most outstanding field athlete of the year at the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championship
• A five-time Sun Belt champion in the triple jump — winning three outdoor and two indoor titles — and the winner of the long jump at the league's indoor meet her senior year
• Also earned all-league recognition in the two events on four other occasions, while scoring points 14 times at SBC Championships during her career
• Was the Jaguar Female Student-Athlete of the Year and the school's NCAA Woman of the Year nominee in 2016-17; one of the Sun Belt's two nominees for the latter honor as well
• Set school records that currently still stand in the indoor (12.89m) and outdoor (13.38m) triple jumps as well as the indoor long jump (6.14m), also ranking third in the outdoor long jump (6.11m)
• Finished fifth in the East Region and 10th nationally in the triple jump at the end of the regular season as a freshman
• Stood 16th in the region and 31st in the country at the end of the 2017 regular season in the event
• Ranked 31st regionally and among the top 55 in the nation in the event her junior year
• As a sophomore was among the top 40 in the East and top 70 nationally in the regular-season triple jump rankings
• Received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Award following the conclusion of her career after making the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List on three occasions and the Academic Honor Roll her senior year

Jan-Louw Kotze, Men's Track & Field, 2013-17
• Qualified for the East Region Preliminary Round in the discus each of his four years, advancing to the NCAA Championship and earning All-America honors — first-team as a senior and honorable mention the previous spring — his last two seasons
• Earned the Elite 90 Award given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating in the NCAA Championship in 2016
• A two-time first-team CoSIDA Academic All-American, earning third-team honors when he was a sophomore as well to become the first-ever Jaguar student-athlete to earn the distinction three times
• Concluded his career as USA's record holder in the discus (62.11m, still second all-time) and the indoor weight throw (18.62m), setting the standard in the Sun Belt in the discus also
• Also continues to rank among the top 10 in school history in the hammer throw (60.88m, fourth), and indoor (16.19m, sixth) and outdoor (16.76m, fourth) shot put
• Concluded the 2016 regular season ranked third in the country and fourth regionally in the discus
• Was 13th in both the national and region rankings during his junior campaign
• Finished 10th in the East Region and 21st in the nation in the discus in the 2013 regular-season rankings
• Ranked 15th and 26th, respectively, in the region and the country in the event his sophomore season
• Received both NCAA and Sun Belt Postgraduate Scholarship awards, and made the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List five times

Jordan Patterson, Baseball, 2011-13
• Earned honorable mention All-America recognition from College Baseball Insider following his junior season, when he was also a second-team all-region selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association
• Named the 2013 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and was a two-time all-league selection
• In three years, recorded a .321 batting average with 212 hits, 51 doubles, 16 homes runs, 125 runs batted in, 148 runs scored and a .437 on-base percentage
• Currently ranks among the top five all-time in program history in doubles, top 10 in total hits and top 15 in RBI
• As a junior, led the team with a .352 batting average, 82 hits, 25 doubles, 69 runs scored and a .485 on-base percentage to help South to a 43-20 overall record, a share of the Sun Belt regular-season title and a berth in an NCAA Regional
• Led the conference in doubles, on-base percentage and hit by pitch (21), and was also among the top 10 in batting average (sixth), hits (fifth), runs (second), total bases (eighth) and walks (fourth) that same season
• Batted .323 with 70 hits, 15 doubles, and team-leading totals of eight home runs and 44 RBI, while posting .426 on-base and .512 slugging percentages his sophomore year
• Was among the top 10 in the SBC in doubles, slugging percentage, on-base percentage and hit by pitch in 2012
• Hit .284 with a .391 on-base percentage as a freshman, collecting 60 base hits — including 11 doubles and four home runs — and driving in 32 runs
• A fourth-round selection by the Colorado Rockies in the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft

Nini Rabsatt-Smith, Women's Soccer, 2012-15
• The first Jaguar to ever be chosen the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2014 and was a two-time first-team all-league selection
• Also earned third-team United Soccer Coaches all-region honors as a senior, was voted to the SBC all-tournament team each of her last three years
• Chosen the 2015-16 Jaguar Female Student-Athlete of the Year and was the department's representative on the Sun Belt Conference Leadership Team the previous year
• Ranks among the top 10 all-time at USA with 80 starts and 85 appearances in her career
• Helped South to a 51-12-6 overall record including a 22-2-2 mark in the Sun Belt, two Sun Belt regular-season and three tournament championships, and three NCAA Tournament berths her last three years
• Recorded three goals and two assists for eight points while helping USA post a 0.92 goals-against average and 10 shutouts — both totals among the top five on the program's season record list — on the way to an 18-3-2 finish and a victory over LSU in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament her senior season
• Finished with 13 points after posting five goals and three assists as a junior as the Jags set a school record with 19 wins (against three losses and a tie) and tied another with 12 shutouts
• Credited with two goals and four assists — tying for third on the team in the latter category — for eight points and helped South record nine shutouts on the way to 14 victories and the school's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance
• Made the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List as a freshman, going on to be named to the league's Academic Honor Roll each of the next three years

Stephen Small, Men's Soccer, 1988-89, '91-92
• Was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year his final two seasons
• A two-time all-Sun Belt selection
• Was also twice selected the Most Valuable Player of the league tournament
• Voted the team's Most Valuable Player both his junior and senior years
• Ranked fifth in points (110), tied for fifth in goals (37) and fourth in assists (26) on South's career record lists at the end of his career
• Helped lead Jaguars to 1992 SBC Tournament championship after pacing the team with 12 goals, 15 assists and 39 points, ranking first in the conference in assists as well as second in goals and points
• Paced the Sun Belt in assists (7) and points (37, which stood fifth in the South Region) while ending up second in goals (15) —all-team-high totals — in helping USA finish 14-4-2 after winning the league tournament
• Scored six goals and added two assists as the Jags reached the finals of the SBC Tournament on the way to a 17-1-2 record in 1989
• Helped the Jaguars go 17-4-1 and win the conference tournament title when he was a freshman, posting four goals and two assists
• South had a 56-16-8 (75.0%) record during his four-year career not including 1990 season which he missed due to injury
• Went on to a long career as a professional player in the Irish Premier League
