SENIOR JAGUAR SOFTBALL JOURNALS: ONE MORE TIME AROUND THE BASES WITH KAMDYN KVISTAD

5/8/2022 1:15:00 PM

Six seniors are listed among the 2022 South Alabama softball roster, and each week throughout the 2022 season, one will give fans a view through their eyes as they recap the previous week.

Hey Jag fans, fifth-year senior Kamdyn Kvistad here again for the senior journal of the week! I will be giving you guys an inside look on our week and our three-game series at, our final series of the regular season.

WEDNESDAY – TRAVEL DAY
To start the trip, we loaded the bus up with our personal bags, softball equipment, and all the drinks/snacks we needed for the weekend. The trip was around three hours to Troy, so we spent our time watching Netflix and playing card games on the bus. Once we got there we checked into our hotel (Hampton Inn) and ended our day eating dinner at Half Shell Oyster Bar & Grill. It was a nice, easy travel day for the Jags to start off the big weekend at Troy!

THURSDAY – GAME ONE – TROY SERIES
Thursday morning, the team started the day with breakfast at the hotel and then later headed to team practice around 10 a.m. At practice, we hit on the field, outfield threw to bases, and we did some infield and outfield drill work. Afterwards, we had team lunch at Momma Goldberg's Deli in downtown Troy. After lunch, we had some extra time to walk around, some of the team got coffee, loaded teas, and walked to some local boutiques to buy some goodies for Mother's Day. After our time downtown, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for recovery and the game. I had my teammate, Jenna Hardy, braid my hair before recovery. During recovery, we did different stretches and rolled out on the foam roller. At 3:45 p.m. we left for the fields to start our pre-game warmups. We lost a tough one, 3-2. After the game, we got dinner at the hotel, Preston's delivered the food. We had grilled chicken, spaghetti, salad, and bread. To top the night off we hung out with our families and teammates.

FRIDAY – GAME TWO – TROY SERIES
Friday morning came around and we did our usual breakfast routine at the hotel. After hanging out for a bit we left for lunch. We ate Chik-fil-a for lunch, I got the spicy chicken sandwich. Afterwards, we went back to the hotel to get ready for the game. Game time is at 6 p.m., so we left the hotel at 3:45 pm again. Another tough lost for the Jags again. After the game Preston's delivered food to the hotel again. Tonight, we had hamburger steak, chicken Alfredo, sweet potatoes salad, and bread. Some of the team played UNO and hung out with their friends and family to end the night.

SATURDAY – GAME THREE – TROY SERIES
Our last day of the Troy trip started out again with breakfast at the hotel. We left for the field around 11:45 am to start our pre-game warm up. Game time versus Troy started at 2 p.m. and the Jags came out swinging today and ended on top, 9-0 in six innings!! After the game, we went and picked up food from Firehouse Subs and ate on the bus while we headed back to Mobile. The bus ride back went by quick, and was filled with games and hanging out with my teammates. We were all excited to end the weekend on a high note and earn the second seed for the Sun Belt Conference tournament this coming week!

SUNDAY – MOTHER'S DAY
Happy Mother's Day to all the Jag moms and grandmas out there!!
