Head Coach Mark Calvi
- On the win:
"Every win is huge, especially today; it was really tight and our guys just kept fighting. We've had our share of adversity on the mound with some injuries and it kind of showed its head today, but we kept fighting and scored in every inning except the last two and got a bunch of hits. I'm proud of our guys' effort all weekend."
- On Carter Sanford:
"He has big time power and has hit some balls hard, but hasn't had a lot of opportunities because Diego (Altamirano) has been so good. Carter was outstanding this weekend. He came in during the middle of the game on Friday, and took us home. I thought he set up beautifully, received well and threw well. I thought he was outstanding and had some really good at-bats – a big one today with that home run too."
- On Hunter Stokes' first career appearance on the mound:
"Hunter was a shortstop at Spanish Fort (Ala.) High School, but he was 88 to 91 (mph) in his senior year. I told him if it didn't work out offensively – he's a three-pitch guy who can close for us, but he had some elbow issues his senior year of high school and we kind of shelved him for a little bit because he was a freshman and we didn't want to hurt him. But he has been on me for the last five or six years to throw him, and I kept telling him, 'I hear you.' There's some years we didn't need him, but now we need him and good for him. It gave Christy, his mom, a happy Mother's Day gift; I know she's fired up. I couldn't be happier. Hunter Stokes is one of my favorite all-time players. He's probably the most beloved kid on the team, and one of the best teammates. To put it in the kids' lingo, he's a dog and he went out there and saved a ballgame today."
