JAGS HOMER 4 TIMES IN WIN OVER CCU TO EVEN SERIES

CONWAY, S.C. – The University of South Alabama team homered four times in a 15-7 win over Coastal Carolina Friday at Springs Brooks Stadium.

Hunter Stokes a pair of home runs, and Carter Sanford and Hunter Donaldson hit one apiece to lead the Jaguar offensive attack that finished with 14 hits. Stokes finished 3-for-6 and drove in two runs and scored twice, and Erick Orbeta went 3-for-5 with three doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Right-hander Jackson Boyd (3-1) tied his career high with 4 2/3 innings pitched, and allowed four runs on five hits with five strikeouts and four walks to earn his third win of the season.

UP NEXT
South Alabama (31-21, 17-12 SBC) will return to action Saturday when it faces Coastal Carolina (35-17-1, 20-8-1 SBC) in the rubber match and regular-season finale at noon (CT) in Conway, S.C.

GAME FACTS
- Erick Orbeta led off the game with a double down the right field line, advanced to third on a single through the left side of the infield by Will Turner and scored on a sacrifice fly to center field by Miles Simington for a 1-0 Jaguar lead. Carter Sanford later delivered a two-out, two-run home run to right-center field for a 3-0 advantage.
- South Alabama took a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning on a leadoff solo home run to right field by Hunter Stokes. Hunter Donaldson followed with a double to right field, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly to left field by Orbeta for a 5-0 lead.
- CCU cut the Jag lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the third on a one-out home run to left field by Eric Brown.
- Cameron Tissue reached on a fielder's choice on a grounder to shortstop, and scored on an RBI double to left field by Orbeta for a 6-1 lead. Orbeta advanced to third on a balk before Turner reached on a fielding error by CCU first baseman Chris Rowan to plate Orbeta for a 7-1 lead.
- The Chanticleers cut the USA lead to 7-2 in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly to left-center field by Kameron Guangorena, and cut the Jag advantage to 7-3 on a two-out RBI single by Austin White.
- Stokes led off the top of the sixth with a solo home run over the center field wall for an 8-3 lead. Donaldson followed with a solo shot to left field for his first career home run and a 9-3 Jaguar lead. Tissue reached on a one-out single to center field, and moved to second on a balk before a single to right field by Turner put runners at the corners. Miles Simington then reached on a hit by pitch to load the bases for Landon Jordan, who drew a four-pitch walk to score Tissue for a 10-3 advantage. An RBI groundout to first base by Sanford plated Turner for an 11-3 lead.
- Brown led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo home run to left field to cut the USA lead to 11-4. 
- Turner drew a leadoff walk in the top of the eighth, and later scored on an RBI groundout to first base by Jordan for a 12-4 lead. Simington scored on a wild pitch with two outs in the inning for a 13-4 lead.
- CCU cut the USA lead to 13-5 on an RBI single back to the pitcher by Matt McDermott in the bottom of the eighth.
- The Jags pushed their lead to 14-5 in the top of the ninth on an RBI bases-loaded walk by Diego Altamirano. Montiel followed with an RBI walk for a 15-5 Jaguar lead.
- CCU cut the USA lead to 15-6 in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single by G. Brown. T. Garrison followed with an RBI single to second to plate the final run of the game.

NOTES
- Diego Altamirano extended his on-base streak to 31 games with a bases-loaded RBI walk in the top of ninth inning.
- Donaldson finished 2-for-4 with a double, one home run, one RBI and two runs scored. His home run marked the first of his Jaguar career.
- Sanford hit one home run, drove in three runs and scored one run. 
- Stokes appeared in the 232nd game of his Jaguar career, which ranks one behind Brett Parker (233) for the all-time record at USA.
