UP NEXT
South Alabama will return to action Thu., May 19, when it opens a three-game Sun Belt Conference series against Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C., at 5 p.m. (CT).

GAME FACTS
- Miles Simington singled to right field with two outs in the bottom of the first, and scored one batter later on an RBI double to left-center field by Landon Jordan for a 1-0 Jaguar lead.
- Joseph Sullivan led off the bottom of the fifth with a triple to right-center field, and Cameron Tissue followed with a hit by pitch. A throwing error by ULM right-hander Tylor Jans on a failed pickoff attempt allowed Tissue to advance to third and Sullivan to score to double the USA lead at 2-0. Erick Orbeta then delivered an RBI single to center field to plate Tissue for a 3-0 advantage.
- Austin Beech led off the top of the seventh for ULM with a double to right field, and scored on an RBI double down the left field line by Matthew Lee to cut the USA lead to 3-1. A sacrifice fly to right-center field by Trace Henry cut the Jaguar lead to 3-2.
- Sullivan led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk, and advanced to third on a two-base error by ULM right-hander Lucas Wepf on a failed pickoff attempt at first. Orbeta followed with an RBI single up the middle to score Sullivan and double the South Alabama lead at 4-2.

NOTES
- Simington extended his hitting streak to seven games with a two-out single to right field in the bottom of the first.
- Orbeta went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Jags at the plate. Jordan added a double and one RBI.
- Left-hander Eli Runyan tossed 2 1/3 scoreless relief innings, and allowed one hit with one strikeout.
- South Alabama extended its SBC win streak to seven games with the victory.

Head Coach Mark Calvi
- On the win:
"We didn't get a high percentage of leadoff outs today, but one walk. Walker Johnson was really good and gave us an outstanding start. He gave up a couple of hits, but made a pitch here and there to get out of a little bit of trouble. (Eli) Runyan was outstanding behind him, and (Hunter) Stokes closed it out. Runyan was really good coming in; he just put the lid on any fire they (ULM) had going in the seventh (inning). He was outstanding."

- On the offense:
"(Erick) Orbeta had two big RBIs. Sometimes you get 15 hits, and sometimes you get stuffed a little bit and have to be opportunistic. We had some opportunities today, we didn't have a lot of men on base, but capitalized on some of their (ULM) mistakes and that's what a good offense does. Today we got a little bit of help from them, and Orbeta came up and drove in two and Landon Jordan had another RBI.

"I'm proud of our guys' effort. We didn't get Zach Harlan out there, but he has been feeling better and adds another weapon. The pitchers have some confidence, and they have gone hard and given me all I could ask for. This is a great group, and they have done nothing but go out there and go hard every single day."

1B/RHP Hunter Stokes
- On his performance in his final home game:
"It means a lot to me. I have my family out in the crowd, and I just wanted to come out here and have fun. It's my last one at Stanky Field; it's been a long, fun ride. I couldn't ask for better coaches and teammates to do it with."
