NEW ORLEANS – The University of South Alabama track & field's Bodine Degli-Umberti and Francois Prinsloo were both voted Sun Belt Conference Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Degli-Umberti won the discus and broke the South Alabama program record with a 52.69m mark at the Triton Invitational in San Diego. The sophomore's mark ranks second in the conference and 33rd in the nation.
Prinsloo recorded a 62.84m throw and placed fifth among an elite field in the men's discus at the Triton Invitational in San Diego. The sophomore leads the Sun Belt in the event and ranks fourth nationally.
This is the second week in a row that a South Alabama field performer has received the weekly conference honor.
The Jaguar track and field teams will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to compete in the Crimson Classic on April 22.
