SOUTH ALABAMA JAGUARSÂ Â Â
– South Alabama (16-14, 9-1 SBC) enters the weekend conference series versus Louisiana after picking up a 10-6 victory over App State on Sunday in the resumption of the series opener from Friday.
– Victoria Ortiz put the Jags up 2-0 with a two-run home run with one out in the top of the first on Friday, before play was suspended due to snow.
– The two teams weren't able to resume the game until Sunday afternoon where South Alabama was able to hold off a late rally attempt by the Mountaineers and pick up the 10-6 victory.
– Gabby Stagner went 3-for-4 at the plate and tied a career high with four RBI, her last igniting a four-run top half of the seventh, which proved to be the difference in the contest.
– The Jaguars have won 10 of their last 11 and the 9-1 start to conference play is the best for the program after 10 league games.
– Mackenzie Brasher leads the team at the plate with a .333 batting average and her 13 stolen bases rank fifth in the conference.
– Brasher's six multi-hit games this spring also top the club.
– The junior outfielder has been even better in league play as she is batting .444 in those 10 games.
– Both Brasher and Caroline Nichols have done an outstanding job setting the table at the top of the order as they enter the series with a 13- and a 12-game reached base safely streak.
– Four other players are hitting .270 or better –  Meredith Keel (.290), Nichols (.279), Ortiz (.274) and Emma Kropp (.270).
– Nichols has also been solid at the plate during conference play, batting .323, while Ortiz is hitting .321. Stagner is hitting .313 against league competition.
– Stagner (18) and Ortiz (17) rank first and second on the Jaguar roster, and have combined to drive in 26 in SBC play.
– Stagner has now driven in 14 runs against Sun Belt foes this spring and has driven in nine in bases-loaded situations, half of her team-leading total.
– Ortiz paces the club with 14 extra-base hits and has now driven in at least one run in seven of her last 10 outings and eight of South's 10 conference games this spring.
– Ortiz sits just outside the top 10 of the league in homers (6) and doubles (7).
– Ortiz also has a team-high six multi-RBI outings, while freshmen Gabby Stagner is right behind her with four.
– Abby Allen, who walked three times against App State on Sunday, leads the team in the category and is tied for fourth in the league with 24 walks, 16 of which came during a 21-game reached base safely streak earlier this spring. She has also scored a team-best 19 runs.
– Olivia Lackie (8-4) holds a 1.90 earned run average in her 84.2 innings of work.Â
– The Walker, La., native has struck out 127 and is holding opponents to a .149 batting average, which leads the league.
– She has gone the distance in eight of her 11 starts and holds five shut outs.Â
– Since the start of conference play, Lackie holds a 1.23 ERA and has a 10:1 strikeout-to-walk ration (71 SO, 7 BB).
– Lackie has struck out double-digits in four of her league starts.
– Opponents are batting just .138 against the righty in conference play.
– Jenna Hardy has been just as solid in the circle holding a 2.20 ERA in 86.0 innings of work in the circle, while she has struck out 69 and issued just 13 walks this spring.
– Like Lackie, Hardy has been outstanding in conference play holding a 0.52 ERA and a perfect 4-0 record.
– Lackie and Hardy rank second and seventh, respectively, in the SBC in ERA, while Lackie is also third in strike outs and strike outs looking (39).
– Hardy is 10th in strikeouts and fifth in strikeouts looking (28).
THE SERIES VS. LOUISIANAÂ Â Â
– South Alabama and Louisiana have met 50 previous times in the all-time series.Â
– Louisiana holds a 39-11 advantage in the all-time series and has won 17-straight in the series dating back to the 2015 Sun Belt Championship game.
– The Ragin' Cajuns swept the regular-season series in Lafayette last spring, shutting out the Jags in all three contests, and then picked up a pair of wins in the SBC tournament, including the championship game.
– Of the 50 series meetings, 17 have been decided by two runs or less.
– Five meetings in the series have gone into extra innings, while nine decisions have been by run-rule.
– The Ragin' Cajuns have won the last six Sun Belt Conference series versus the Jaguars.
– During the program's previous 15 seasons, South has won two SBC series versus the Ragin' Cajuns (2013 and 2009).  The two clubs also tied the first conference series during the 2007 season with each picking up a win.
– The two teams have met 10 times in the postseason with four of those meetings coming during the championship game of the Sun Belt tournament (2012, '14, '15, '21).
