Six seniors are listed among the 2022 South Alabama softball roster, and each Monday throughout the 2022 season, one will give fans a view through their eyes as they recap the previous week. On tap this week is infielder Belle Wolfenden.
Hey Jag fans, its Belle Wolfenden and I am here to give you guys an inside look on my week as a Jag.
WEDNESDAY
Today turned out to be a beautiful day again. Me and my roommates decided to invite some of the girls over to sit by the pool to relax and talk about anything and everything. We ordered lunch by the pool. Some of us had chipotle and some of us had chicken salad chick. I personally had Chicken Salad Chick because it is my absolute favorite fresh meal that is close by!
We wrapped up by the pool and headed to practice! Today's funny joke was having "draw your best dog" on the white board in our locker room. I was feeling clever and drew a hot dog! I think the funniest one was KK's [Katelyn Hughes] because one it was not a dog and two she drew a cat naming it after her cat at home "Winfrey ''. But the best drawing on the board was Janeah's [Finney] who drew an adorable lab named Ammo!
THURSDAY
TRAVEL DAY!
We hit the road for Knoxville Tennessee early in the morning. During the bus ride we settled debates and answered would you rather questions, stopped at Chick-fil-A in Trussville, Ala. After the team ate, we got back on the bus and some of the girls and me played Phase 10. I was losing in the beginning but came back and finished all ten phases.
We got to the hotel and watched the sun go down on the hotel balcony that was a part of the lobby while eating our food. We had steak, pasta, mash potatoes, salad and some rolls. It was pretty good. When we got gone with are food, we played corn hole which was on the hotel balcony. Me and Janeah went up against [Mackenzie] Brasher and Kennedy [Cronan]. Of course, me and Janeah came out on top with the final score of 21-3.
FRIDAY
ITS GAME DAY!
We started the day out with a good breakfast at the hotel. We had muffins, eggs, bacon and fruit. When I eat at hotels, my favorite breakfast to have is the blueberry muffins and a banana. We then went to the field to get ready to play! The team's favorite thing to do before the game is to play hacky sack. The whole team gets in one big circle. We play this game called red dot we're you hit the hacky three times in the circle and on the third time someone catches the hacky and has to quickly throw it and hit another person in the circle. When a person gets hit they are out until another round of three. After our games we did recovery with our strength coach in the hotel pool and had Texas Road House for dinner!
SATURDAY
GAME DAY – DAY 2
The Jags woke up this morning and stretched with our bands and rollers with Coach Lo [Lauren Collier]. When we got to the field the game before us was still playing so we had to walk through the soccer facilities to get to and open area for warmups! The Tennessee soccer facilities were very nice and cool. Walking through the double doors, they had orange tinted lights that hit the wall of all the players with rewards. It was the biggest soccer facility I have seen. We had fun with our warmups joking around cheering each other on and getting hyped to play Tennessee!
SUNDAY
GAME DAY – DAY 3
Sunday morning was a beautiful morning with beautiful skies. I woke up hyped and ready to play our last game for the weekend! We were the home team so we had a little bit of spare time to break out and play hacky with everyone. Our game was against Dartmouth and from the very beginning our dugout was so hyped. Dancing, cheering, and having a good time while we competed every pitch. We got down in the fourth inning, but did not give up the fight. We all put the rally caps on and kept going. We came back strong with victory hitting back to back homers! We ended the game on top (5-2)! Overall, it was a good game to end on before we head into CONFERENCE!
