GAME FACTS
- USA loaded the bases in the top of the first on a leadoff single through the right side of the infield by Erick Orbeta, walk by Will Turner and single to left field by Miles Simington. Charles Middleton then reached on an RBI fielder's choice on a grounder to third that scored Orbeta for a 1-0 Jaguar lead.
- Santi Montiel led off the top of the second with a triple to left-center field. Hunter Donaldson followed with an RBI single to center field to plate Montiel and double the Jag lead at 2-0. A sacrifice bunt by Cameron Tissue advanced Donaldson to second. Reid Powers followed with a walk before Orbeta reached on a bunt single back to the pitcher to load the bases with one out. But UL right-hander Jacob Schultz rolled an inning-ending 6-3 double play off the bat of Turner to escape the jam.
- Hunter Donaldson doubled to the left-center field gap with one out in the top of the fourth, and scored on a two-out RBI single up the middle by Reid Powers for a 3-0 USA advantage.
- Max Marusak led off the bottom of the fourth with a bunt single up the third base line, and moved to second when Tyler Robertson reached on a hit by pitch. A sacrifice bunt by Kyle DeBarge put both runners in scoring position with one out. Carson Roccaforte followed with a three-run home run to left field to tie the score 3-3.
- Montiel and Donaldson reached on consecutive singles to start the top of the sixth. Montiel advanced to third with one out on a wild pitch before Powers delivered an RBI single up the middle to plate Montiel for a 4-3 Jag lead. Turner drew a walk to load the bases with two outs. Miles Simington followed with an RBI walk to score Donaldson for a 5-3 Jag advantage. Middleton then drew a walk to score Powers to double the USA lead at 6-3.
- Roccaforte delivered a sacrifice fly to left field in the bottom of the sixth to score Tyler Robertson, who doubled down the left field line to lead off the inning, and cut the Jag lead to 6-4.
- UL cut the Jag lead to 6-5 in the bottom of the ninth on a one-out solo home run to right-center field by Roccaforte.

Head Coach Mark Calvi
- On Matt Boswell:
"It starts and stops with that guy on the mound, and the guys behind him defensively. Boz was phenomenal today. He gave up four hits, and one was the three-run home run that (Carson) Roccaforte put a good swing on and hit another one late. Boz has been that good before. He hasn't gone over 100 pitches much, and we stretched him out. I thought he got better (as the game progressed), and just competed like crazy; he wasn't wavering at all and wanted to go back out there (for the ninth inning). I challenged the starters the other day to get us seven (innings). I have all the faith in the world in that guy today who was out there in Matt Boswell. He is always going to give you a great effort, and today was no different. He was absolutely outstanding."

- On the offense:
"We had a bunch of hits today and really good at-bats. We swung the bats really well. We left 11 guys on base and had some chances, but we hit into two double plays early which hurt our crooked-number opportunities in an inning. We were needing a double in the gap with bases loaded, but our guys battled like crazy. We faced some good arms and did enough to score. Like last night, we could be sitting here 2-0 (in the series) or 0-2 – that's how the game goes. But with the right mentality, if you just play hard all the way then the game comes back to you. The team that goes hard and has heightened awareness when the opportunity presents itself, you take advantage of it and that's how our guys have been and for the most part it has gone our way."

RHP Matt Boswell
- On his performance:
"I felt great. Out there on the mound, it took an inning or two to get off the rubber and see how it felt. The mound was extremely steep, but I think it worked to my advantage to be able to work downhill from a high arm slot and missed some barrels."

- On his feeling after the three-run home run to tie the game in the fourth inning:
"We blew his (Roccaforte) doors off in the same location to begin with, but he did a good job of making the adjustment and putting the bat on the ball; you tip your cap to that. I don't the approach changed much at all, and I'm glad we didn't. I think the old me would have gone haywire a little bit and wonder why my ball is getting hit around the yard, and that one guy had my number. But at the end of the day you can't let one guy beat you."
