KANSAS CITY – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) tabbed Charles Manning Jr. and Jay Jay Chandler all-district on Tuesday, the organization announced. Manning Jr. was awarded first-team honors and Chandler was placed on the second team. Manning Jr. and Chandler were also named second-team all-Sun Belt for their efforts during the regular season.
Manning Jr. finished fourth in the regular season in the Sun Belt in scoring, averaging 16.1 points per game and was named Sun Belt Player of the Week and the Las Vegas Classic MVP at the Las Vegas Classic. He has scored 20 points or more 11 times and has scored in double-figures 21 times this season. The 6-foot-4 guard also led South in assists and steals and finished second on the team in blocks. Manning Jr. tied a career-high with 26 points in the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, while setting new career-highs with six assists against Troy and six blocks against Tarleton.
Chandler finished the regular season eighth in the Sun Belt in scoring, averaging 15.2 points per game and was named Sun Belt Player of the Week in two games against Troy earlier this year. He scored over 1,000 points in his NCAA career earlier in a win over Troy at home. The 6-foot-4 guard scored a career-high 26 points at Troy, a career-best eight assists at Coastal Carolina and scored at least 10 points in 24 consecutive contests earlier this season. The Katy, Texas native scored 20 or more points in 10 contests.
