SENIOR JAGUAR SOFTBALL JOURNALS: ONE MORE TIME AROUND THE BASES WITH CAROLINE NICHOLS

2/28/2022 10:57:00 AM

Six seniors are listed among the 2022 South Alabama softball roster, and each Monday throughout the 2022 season, one will give fans a view through their eyes as they recap the previous week. On tap this week is outfielder Caroline "Pepper" Nichols.

Hey Jag fans, its senior outfielder Pepper Nichols and I am here to give you guys an inside look on my week as a Jag. First and foremost, I would just like to say thank you to all of you for the constant support because we would not be able to do what we love without you guys! Now let's get into this week's schedule.

TUESDAY
I do not have class on Tuesday so once I woke up, I made some breakfast and began some schoolwork to get a head start on the week. Once the afternoon rolled around it was time for team practice, so I headed to the field. After practice we headed to the weight room for a team lift with Coach Lo. After we got a good lift in, it was time to head home and call it a night.

WEDNESDAY
I began my morning going to my 8 am Brand Management class. Once class was over, I headed back home to relax for breakfast. I hung out until about lunch before heading back to MCOB (Mitchell College of Business) to meet with one of my professors. After my meeting, I headed to my Marketing Policy class at 1:25. Once class was over, it was time for me to make up an exam I missed during last week's trip to FSU. After completing my test, it was time to head to Jaguar Field for practice where we got some defensive work in, outfield got to throw to bases, and got in some hitting on the field. After practice, it was time to go home and eat dinner and get ready for bed.

THURSDAY
We started off the day with hitting groups and weights before leaving for The Snowman Tournament in Starkville, Miss. Once everyone was done with groups, we loaded up the bus and got on the road. I had a big assignment due Friday evening, so I used the time in the bus to complete it. We got to Starkville just in time for dinner and had Sweet Peppers Deli, which was amazing! After dinner, we headed to out rooms to unpack and relax before game day tomorrow!!

FRIDAY
ITS GAME DAY!! We began our morning bright and early with breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we headed to the field for our doubleheader versus Belmont and Longwood. The Jags ended 2-0 on the day with a great start to the tournament! And we can't forget freshman Gabby Stagner's bomb to walk off the first game versus Belmont. We then got on the bus to head back to the hotel to get ready for dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings. While we were eating, we got to cheer on someone doing the hot wings contest which was really fun. After dinner, we headed back to the hotel where I got to spend time with my parents and boyfriend! I was super excited for tomorrow because my sister and Jag Alumni, MC Nichols, is coming to support the Jags!

SATURDAY
We started the day as usual, breakfast at the hotel then headed to the field for our game versus Longwood. Because we had a large break in between games we went to Newk's for lunch, where I got a sandwich and soup combo to fuel me for the next game. After lunch, we went back to the hotel for a little recovery before the next game against Mississippi State. Once we got to the field, we were all so fired up and ready to play. Kamdyn Kvistad's solo home run put us ahead 1-0. We beat Mississippi 1-0 and it was a great team win. We then went back to the hotel where I got to spend time with all my family and friends who came to support. It was great being able to see all of them and catch up.

SUNDAY
Today was the last day of the tournament and we played one game against Mississippi State. We started the morning with hotel breakfast and coffee (our favorite). Because our game wasn't until the afternoon, we took some time in the morning for a recovery session with Coach Lo. When it was time, we packed up the bus and headed back to the field for the last game of the tournament. Once the game was over, we packed up the bus to head back to Mobile. On the way home, we ate Jimmy John's subs, and some caught up on schoolwork while others slept or watched tv. Once we made it back to the field, we unpacked the bus and headed home to bring the weekend to a close.

Thank you so much for following the Jags along on our trip to Starkville, Miss. Thank you also for the constant support from you guys! You're the best Jag Nation! Can't wait to see you guys at our first home game, as always GO JAGS!!
