GAME FACTS
- Miles Simington reached on a two-out hit by pitch, and advanced to third when Charles Middleton reached on a two-base error by URI third baseman Anthony DePino on a popup to third. A passed ball allowed Simington to score the game's first run.
- USA loaded the bases in the bottom of the second on three straight two-out walks by Will Turner, Erick Orbeta and Landon Jordan. But URI right-hander Domenic Picone induced an inning-ending groundout to second off the bat of Simington to end the threat.
- The Jags doubled their lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double down the right field line by Will Turner to score Diego Altamirano, who doubled to right field one batter earlier. Simington delivered a two-out RBI single to left field later in the inning to score Turner for a 3-0 Jag advantage.Â
- Joseph Sullivan tripled to right-center field with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, and Altamirano followed with a walk. Turner then delivered a two-run triple to right-center field for a 5-0 Jaguar lead. Orbeta drew walk to put runners at the corners before Jordan lifted the first pitch he saw from URI right-hander Bryan Kraus over the right field wall for a three-run home run to extend the USA lead to 8-0.
- Rhode Island pushed across its lone run of the game in the top of the seventh on a two-out RBI single to left field by Addison Kopack.
- Cameron Tissue drew a one-out walk, and scored one batter later on an RBI triple down the left field line by Jordan for the final run of the game.Â

Head Coach Mark Calvi
- On the win:
"I thought (Matt) Boswell was really good. Jeremy Lee in behind him, we're still bringing him along, and Austin Mills making his first career appearance coming off of Tommy John (surgery). I'm really pleased on the mound, but we made two errors that I didn't like. We need to clean that up, but offensively their (Rhode Island) starter was pretty good; he had a sneaky fastball. Our guys worked hard to get on base and took some walks – it was a good game."
- On Matt Boswell:
"He is so much better this year. He has changed some routines, he is calmer and so much better out of the stretch. Pitchers make their money out of the stretch, and he is so far ahead of last year at this point right now. Credit him and (assistant) Coach (Brad) Phillips, they have both done an outstanding job. But out of the stretch he is just so much better and a lot more confident. And he has that good curveball now, which he didn't have last year, and that's a big difference."
