ST-HILAIRE NAMED SUN BELT MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

2/23/2022 10:53:00 AM

MOBILE, Ala. – Maxime St-Hilaire was announced as the Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday. St-Hilaire is the first Jag men's tennis player to win the award since Julien Evrard won the award twice last season.

St-Hilaire went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles, defeating Nicholls' Piyush Surendra Salekar in two sets and LSU's Joao Graca in straight sets in singles action. Playing from the number two position in doubles, St-Hilaire and partner Sébastien Collard won both matches against Nicholls and LSU 6-3.

"Max [St-Hilaire] totally deserves the award, said head coach Nick Brochu. "This might be his first player of the week award, but he has been such a steady and reliable player for us since week one of the spring. He is not only undefeated, he has beaten players on ranked teams too. He has come from behind and he has worked extremely hard to stay in the matches. He has fought in every single match and not given any points away. He has been practicing hard and he has seen the results. I'm very proud of him and happy to have him on the team. He completely deserves this award."

St-Hilaire has started off the spring with a perfect 9-0 record in singles action and is 6-2 in doubles competition, including a 5-1 mark with Collard.
