THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Terry Fowler
- Opening Statement: "I thought the first half, both teams came out really sluggish and couldn't get any baskets to fall. At half time we told our team you just gotta keep pumping. We were 0-11 at half from three, so we gotta keep going and the shots would fall. I thought we were getting the looks we wanted, they just weren't falling. In the second half, we did come out with much more energy. I thought our defense was constant all night. We were able to create some buckets off of our defense and I think once we got some steals and started doing some things that started to help us get going on the offense end of the floor. We didn't make some plays here or there. It was tough. It's the second time we've played these guys, both went into overtime, and we were evenly matched. It was disappointing to lose this game on senior day because I really wanted them to have a win today."
Freshman G Nadia Howard
-On today's loss: "Everyone just really wanted to win and play hard. Of course, it was senior night so it was all playing for our seniors and for our coaches. We were all just playing for each other. Unfortunately, we didn't pull out the win, but at least we played hard."
-On what made the difference in the second half: "Our coaches in the locker room at half time [made the difference], they were just trying to hype us up. Everyone's energy was down in the first half, it was just one of those slow start games. At half time we all just came together and decided that it's our last home game and we just need to play for each other."
-On finishing out the season: "I think we just have to put two halves together. Last game we had a great first half and this game we had a great second half so if we just put it together, we will be able make a run in the tournament I believe if we keep playing hard."
