MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama head men's golf coach Ben Hannan announced the addition of Joshua Hill to the signing class, bringing the total to three this fall.

"We've known about and been recruiting Joshua for several months," Hannan said. "Joshua is from the same general area as Gareth Maybin and Jonny Caldwell who had great playing careers at South Alabama. I got the opportunity to watch Joshua this summer while he played in a European Tour Event and was very impressed with his game."

Hill has been ranked as high as 670 in the world (WAGR) and is currently ranked fifth in the U21s in Ireland, while also representing the Irish Boys Team at Home Internationals in 2019 and 2021. He also represented the Irish Boys at the Jacques Leglise Trophy in 2019 and 2020.

"Joshua had a lot of success and has been competing in high-level events for several years," Hannan said. "He is a very solid ball striker with a lot of speed and can make a ton of birdies when he gets it going. His 61 in the qualifier for the South of Ireland is a testament to his talent and ability. He is a very good athlete coming off a solid summer, and we are excited and looking forward to Joshua joining the team next fall."

Hill won the 2022 Mullingar Scratch Trophy following three rounds of sub-par golf (66, 70, 66) and was the low medalist in the 2022 South of Ireland Championship out of 150 golfers following rounds of 70 and 61. He also finished third at the 2022 Munster Stroke Play Championship out of 75 golfers with four rounds of 72 or lower, while also finishing tied for 14th (of 149) at the 2022 North of Ireland Open and tied for 18th (of 132) at the 2022 Irish Amateur Open Championship.

He was also a participant in the 2022 ISPS Handa World Invitational European Tour Event.
