Jaguar Basketball Position Preview - Guards

MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama men's basketball brings in four newcomers to the guard position, including two 1,000-point scorers, and returns two contributors from last season. The season begins on November 9, as the Jags host the University of Mobile Rams at the Mitchell Center. RETURNING PLAYERS (2)
- Tyrell Jones (Jr., 6-2, 190) – Jones played in 18 games last season, starting nine. He is one of three returning players with starting experience for the Jaguars. He missed two months of the season due to a broken foot. Jones scored a career-high 17 points in the first round of The Basketball Classic against Southeastern Louisiana. He averaged 21 minutes per game, playing behind all-conference performers Charles Manning Jr. and Jay Jay Chandler. Jones led the team in free throw percentage last year, knocking them down at a 77% clip.
- Adam Sizemore (Sr., 5-10, 170) – Has played in 23 career games for the Jaguars. He made eight appearances last season, hitting three three-pointers.
 
NEWCOMERS (4)
- Greg Parham II (Gr., 6-4, 195) – Parham II was named to the preseason All-Sun Belt second-team. He was a member of the South Alabama team last year, but he sat out the season due to a medical redshirt. Parham joins the program having amassed over 1,000 career points at VMI. In his final season at VMI (2020-21), he led the team in scoring with 18.4 points per game. He shot 48.4 percent from the field and 43.5 percent from beyond the arc. Parham was named first-team All-SoCon by the media that season. In league play, he scored 20+ points in seven straight games.
- Isaiah Moore (Gr. 6-1, 190) – Another 1,000-point scorer, Moore joins the Jags from Division II Franklin Pierce. He was named to the Division II All-America team as well as the Northeast 10 Player of the Year. He led the conference in scoring (22.6) and was second in assists (5.4).
- Owen White (Gr., 6-6, 215) – The transfer from Division II Michigan Tech comes to South Alabama with the most career points for any player on the team with 1,575. A career 47 percent shooter, White was named the GLIAC Player of the Year last season. He also proved himself to be a strong and versatile defender. White was a three-time member on the GLIAC All-Defensive team and was named to the conference's first-team twice. His career honors also include NABC Honors Court, NABC All-American and CoSIDA Academic All-America third-team.
- Jamar Franklin (Fr., 6-2, 175) – Franklin joins the team as one of two incoming freshmen. He averaged 20.8 points and 5.7 rebounds in his junior year at Rockledge High School. He was named the district player of the year and earned second-team all-state honors in 5A.

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
- Chandler and Manning, who each averaged 15 points per game, were named to the All-Sun Belt second team last season.
- Parham II was named to the preseason All-Sun Belt second-team.
- Jones is one of three players on the roster this season who have started games for South Alabama in the past.
- Parham and White bring experience to the roster as they have each started over 100 games in their careers.
- White and Moore each averaged over 17 points per game last season.
