QUOTABLE
Head Coach Terry Fowler:
Opening statement:
"Just so excited for our kids to get that win today. We knew it was going to be tough. FAMU has played people really close and the first half we just came out and struggled. That's been the story of the season. We turned it over 14 times in the first half and they had 11 points off those turnovers, and in the second half we turned it over six times. The thing about it is we've got to do better in the first half of taking care of the basketball. I thought we were able to get into a rhythm in the second half, and were able to get some things going with our ball screen offense and then
Tristen Washington got going from three. She is that capable of a shooter, we've just been waiting for it to happen, and not a better day than today for her to have a breakout game. Just happy for our kids because it's been weighing on them, so hopefully this can propel us forward."
Â
On the strong second half:
"It's a thing where in the past, bad things have happened, and when bad things continue to happy, you sometimes think 'here we go again'. We knew we needed a game like this. We needed to come out and earn it, and I think we did earn it today. I am just proud of that. We talked about it after the game, we haven't been in this type of game before, so we had to learn how to win, how to finish it out, how to certain to a certain press, how to get the ball to the right people. The best way to do that is through game experience, so we were able to get that today." Â
