MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama quarterback
Carter Bradley tied a single-game record with career-high four touchdown passes, while connecting on 20 of his 34 attempts for 274 yards to lead the Jaguars to a 38-21 Sun Belt Conference victory Saturday at Hancock Whitney Stadium.
With the win, South Alabama (8-2, 5-1 SBC) moves into a tie with Troy for first-place in the SBC West Division standings, while the eight wins are the most since the Jags' 10-0 campaign during the 2010 season.
Wide receiver
Devin Voisin hauled in six receptions for 118 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the victory. D. Voisin had a 41-yard TD reception on the opening drive of the game and then a 28-yard score early in the fourth quarter.
Caullin Lacy – three receptions for 58 yards – and
DJ Thomas-Jones – three receptions for 22 yards – also had a touchdown reception in the win.
Defensively,
Trey Kiser led the way with a career-best 10 stops – all solo – including three behind the line of scrimmage, while linebacker
James Miller chipped in with seven solo tackles, two tackles for loss and one of South's three sacks.

- During halftime, South Alabama's 2022 Athletic Hall of Fame class – Kaitlyn Beans (women's track & field – 2014-17), Jan-Louw Kotze (men's track & field – 2013-17), Jordan Patterson (baseball – 2011-13) and Nini Rabsatt-Smith (women's soccer – 2012-15), along with Stephen Small (men's soccer – 1988-89, '91-92) who was part of the 2021 induction class, but was unable to attend the ceremony a year ago – was recognized on the field after being officially inducted earlier in the day
- The defense held the Bobcats to 87 yards rushing and has now held opponents below 100 yards rushing seven times this fall
- With his 118 yards receiving, D. Voisin posted his second career 100-yard receiving game and his first game with two receiving touchdowns.
- The four touchdown passes by Bradley were marked the first game with four touchdowns since Jake Bentley vs. Arkansas State (10/30/21)
- The four-touchdowns passing tied a single-game record, one of five times in which it has happened
- The 20 pass completions, Bradley moves to second on the single-season list as he now has 209 this fall, three shy of matching Bentley's program mark
- His 2,555 passing yards moved him to third on the single-season list as he is 67 yards behind Ross Metheny (2,622 – 2013) in second and 151 yards behind Dallas Davis (2,706 – 2016)
- The 10 solo tackles by Kiser tied for ninth-most in a game and were the most since Nick Mobley's standard of 12 set against Georgia State (11/21/20)
- Brown's 15-yard interception returned for a touchdown was the second pick-six for the Jag defense this season
- It was the first time since the 2010 season (3) that a South Alabama defense has returned multiple interception for a score in the same season. USA also had three interceptions for a score in 2009
- Jamie Sherriff now has five sacks on the year, tied with Jesse Kelly (2014) for seventh most in a season, and the most by a defensive lineman since Randy Allen recorded 12 during the 2016 campaign
- With his 41-yard touchdown pass to D. Voisin, Bradley recorded his 16th of the season to move him into a tie with Cole Garvin (2016-18) and Brandon Bridge (2013-14) for sixth on the career TD pass list
- Bradley's second touchdown pass of the evening, his 17th on the year, then moved him into a tie with Bentley (2021) for both the single-season mark at South and fifth on the career list in the category
- In the third quarter, Bradley tossed his second 41-yard TD pass of the game, this one to Lacy, giving him the stand-alone single season mark has he now has 19
- The Jaguar quarterback now has five games with three touchdown passes this season
- Jalen Wayne has now caught a pass in 26-straight games, tying the senior with Shavarez Smith for third-longest streak in program history
- Lacy also hauled in a reception for the 22nd consecutive game, the seventh longest streak
- The Jag defense held the Bobcats to -3 yards rushing, 27 total yards of offense and just two first downs, while also holding a huge advantage in time off possession (22:16 – 7:44)
- The -3 rushing yards marked the second-straight half in which the Jaguars have held an opponent to negative rushing yards as they also held Georgia Southern (11/5) to -10 yards rushing in the second half
- USA had 231 total yards of offense during the first 30 minutes of action and recorded 13 first downs
- Texas State's offense didn't reach the South's side of the field until its second drive of the second half as the Bobcats had just 32 yards of offense to that point. They had 80 yards on the drive which eventually led to a touchdown
