Miscellaneous Notes
- Luter Jr. and Rockette's 28 tackles apiece led all South Alabama cornerbacks last fall. Rockette's 23 solo stops were sixth-most on the team and third-most by a player from the secondary.
-Rockette was chosen honorable mention preseason All-American by Pro Football Network, and was a preseason third-team all-Sun Belt Conference selection by Phil Steele Publications, earning fourth-team preseason all-league recognition from Athlon Sports.
-Rockette's 95-yard interception return for a touchdown versus ULM last fall was the first score on defense for the Jags since Jalen Thompson ran back a pick 55 yards for a touchdown in a Sept. 15, 2018, victory over Texas State. The senior defensive back led the team with two interceptions in 2020.
-Melton played in all 11 games for the Jags last fall and posted a total of 22 stops, including one for a loss of three yards. His three passes broken up were tied with Rockette and two other players for third-most on the club.
-After making the move to the secondary during the spring, Flenord was credited with five passes broken up, ranking second on the team in the category.
-After redshirting during the 2019 season, Gamble made his collegiate debut against ULM, his only appearance of the 2020 campaign.
-Brooks – a three-star signee from 247Sports.com – was also ranked among the top 75 prospects in the state where he recorded 140 tackles and 15 interceptions in his prep career, returning three of those for touchdowns.
-Jaden Voisin and Yam Banks made the move to safety during the offseason.

Dwike Wilson
- On the experience the group returns: "This group has played a lot of football and I'm excited about that. They understand how to practice, they understand how to get better, and they're paying attention to detail and stressing the detail."
- On what he feels is key for the group this fall: "They just need to be a group that that helps contribute all the time. We just need consistency from this position group."
- On what this group does well: "The overall thing about this group is that they are so diverse. They're not cookie-cutter type players. They're all capable of doing different things out on the field. One thing about Coach [Corey] Batoon is that he's going to take advantage of that and put those guys in the right situation."

Devin Rockette
- On what this group does well: "I feel that we are a very technique-sound group. That's one area we have focused on becoming since the start of spring and summer to now. We are definitely locked in on our technique."
- On what he's worked to improve on during the offseason: "I would have to say my technique. Staying low in middle routes, and keeping my eyes where they are supposed to be. Eye discipline."
- On having a second senior season and his expectations: "I feel like this extra season is a blessing. I'm going to take my blessing and run with it."

Darrell Luter Jr.
- On what he took from his time on the field last season: "I'd say just the competitiveness and staying focused on my technique."
- On the difference between this year and last year's fall camp: "The big difference for me is just my ability to stay locked in and knowing what I'm supposed to do as it relates to technique and keeping my eyes where they're supposed to be."
- On what stands out about the position group: "What stands out to me is our aggressiveness and the way we communicate with each other both on and off the field."
