THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Paul Brueske

- On today's performances: "We went out there and competed hard. You always want to win the Championships, and we're disappointed that we didn't, but I'm also proud of our efforts. We have a nucleus of a team that hopefully will continue to improve and develop. We had some great performances with Xavier [Rogers] in the 400m and Carolien [Millenaar] in the 3000m steeplechase with two gold medals. We had a lot of other students scoring in the running events, so we have some good recruits coming in, and we're just going to try and build on that. We wish we would have won the meet, but we are still pleased overall. Considering all of the adversity we went through with COVID and the complications that brought us, I was very pleased with the maturity of the team. They stepped in, stayed focused and did a great job despite all of those distractions."

- On the field events: "We tend to have much success in the field events. We have to work a little bit more on getting our sprints and distance events to come up and compete the way they are capable of doing. They're getting better, and I believe they're going to do just that."

- On hosting for the first time in history: "I thought we did a good job with the meet, and most of the coaches liked it. We have a great facility now to host those meets, and we're excited about how it went."
