MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama's Carolien Millenaar was victorious in the 3000m steeplechase after shattering the school record with a career-best time of 10:22.37 on day two of the Sun Belt Outdoor Championship at Jaguar Track in Mobile Ala.
South's women's track and field team holds the lead with 89.50 points. The men's team is entering Saturday's competition in third place with 47 points, just three points away from the leading school UTA.

Multis Events
- Redshirt junior Hanna-Mai Vaikla claimed second in the heptathlon (5,441 points), with her score just 42 points away from the top-finisher.
Sophomore Rocio Chaparro took seventh place in the same event after scoring 4,773 points.
- Redshirt sophomore Graham Collins added six team points for the men's team after claiming third place in the decathlon with a score of 6,369 points.
- Redshirt sophomore Brylan Shirley finished fifth in the event with a score of 6,086 points for a total of four team points.
Men's Field
- Senior Rickssen Opont came away with the win in the shot put with a 17.74m mark for a spot in the finals.
- Freshman Sebastian Loschner followed in second in the same event with a PR mark of 17.05m, advancing to finals. His distance is the third-best mark in USA's record book.
- Redshirt freshmen Francois Prinsloo (15.37m) and Dimitrios Manesiotis (14.60m) claimed seventh and 10th place, respectively, in the same event.
Women's Field
- Senior Autavia Fluker recorded a runner-up finish in the shot put with a mark of 15.32m. Freshman Colette moved to fifth on South's all-time list in the same event after throwing a career-best mark of 14.87m.
- Senior Emilie Berge placed third in the high jump with a 1.72m height, while sophomore Kiara Risher finished in sixth place (1.67m), with her mark being .02m away from her PR.
- Freshman Bodine Degli-Umberti placed fifth in the shot put with a 14.80m performance. Redshirt freshmen Angeline Smit (14.14m) and Lucy Raynor (13.83m), followed in sixth and eighth place in the same event, respectively.
- Freshman Taviana Williams leaped her way to a new long jump PR of 5.81m for a ninth-place finish.
Men's/Women's Running
- Junior Xavier Rogers advanced to the 400m finals with the fastest time of 47.08s in the preliminaries. His PR time is the fourth-fastest time in Jaguar history.
- Redshirt sophomore Hunter Appling qualified for the 110m finals with a sixth-place time of 14.31s. Sophomore Lester Davison ran his lifetime best in the 110m hurdles preliminaries with a 14.70s time.
- Senior Cierra Hedrick's 100m PR time of 11.66s was the third-fastest time in the event, advancing her to the 100m finals. Her mark currently ranks third in Jaguar history.
- Junior Silje Lindstad crossed the line at 11:13.56 for a sixth-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase.
- Freshman Lance Cunigan came in 10th place in the men's 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:04.85.
- Freshman Josie Pry (100m hurdles) and junior Shay Lee (800m) ran personal bests in their respective events.

- On today's performances: We had some outstanding performance today. We had multiple athletes step up and get personal and season bests, and that was exciting to see. Warno [Potgieter] ran well in the 800m and Carolien [Millenaar] set a personal best in the 3000m steeplechase. We had five women place in the top 10 in the shot put. We were one and two in the men's shot put with Sebastian [Loschner] following Rickssen [Opont] in the event. Emilie [Berge] did well in the high jump as she was in the top three. Overall, we had a lot of exciting things happen today. Tomorrow, we are going to come back focused and ready to get every point we can get."
