JAGUAR FLUKER BREAKS SBC RECORD, QUALIFYING FOR THE OLYMPIC TRIALS ON DAY ONE OF SBC OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

MOBILE, Ala.
– The University of South Alabama's Autavia Fluker was unbelievable on the opening day of the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships at Jaguar Track after her breathtaking performance in the hammer throw. The senior automatically qualified for the Olympic Trials after dominating the event with a 68.17m mark, breaking her Sun Belt and school record for the fourth time this season. 

USA's women's track and field team leads the field after scoring 37 points, while the men's team accumulated 17 points to enter Saturday's competition in fourth place.

NOTES

Multis Events Update
- The decathlon and heptathlon will conclude tomorrow, with the decathlon beginning at 9 a.m. and the heptathlon following at 9:30 a.m.
- With a temporary score of 3,199 points, redshirt junior Hanna-Mai Vaikla is currently the first-runner up in the heptathlon after recording three top-three finishes in today's four heptathlon events.
- Redshirt sophomore Graham Collins is currently in third place in the decathlon after earning four top-five finishes in today's five decathlon events scoring 3,434 points. 

Men's Field
- Redshirt freshman Francois Prinsloo's hammer throw PR of 58.74m ranks ninth on the Jaguars' all-time list.
- Senior Rickssen Opont finished eighth in the same event (55.73m), with his teammate redshirt sophomore Quinton Webb (55.37m) following in ninth place.
- Sophomore Josh Estes took fifth place in the javelin throw with a 61.79m distance. Junior Cade Marty posted a career-best javelin throw of 61.32m for a sixth-place finish.
- Redshirt freshman Dimitrios Manesiotis (hammer throw) and junior Kobe Cox (javelin throw) recorded personal bests in their respective events.

Women's Field
- After throwing a hammer throw PR mark of 56.09m, freshman Colette Uys moved up to sixth on the USA's record book with a fourth-place finish in the event. Freshman Bodine Deglin-Umberti finished eighth in the same event with a 52.44m distance.
- Junior Marcella Liiv established a lifetime best in the javelin throw, with her fourth-place effort of 45.89m being the sixth-best in school history.
- Sophomore Ina Edstrom jumped to fourth place with a pole vault PR of 3.83m, moving her to seventh on South's all-time performance list.
- With a career-best mark of 3.73m, sophomore Stefanie Dadayeva claimed fifth place in the same event.
- Redshirt junior Vaikla placed fifth in the javelin throw with a 44.93m performance. 
- Sophomore Rocio Chaparro earned seventh place in the same event (39.34m), while senior Emile Berge finished in 10th place with a 37.53m throw.

Men's/Women's Running
- With each recording PRs in the 400m hurdles preliminaries, redshirt sophomore Hunter Appling (53.96s) and redshirt freshman Joey Zayszly (53.99s) advanced to finals after placing sixth and seventh, respectively, in the event.
- Senior Warno Potgieter earned a spot in the 1500m finals after running a 3:51.59 race.
- Senior Onesmus Kemboi's 10K PR time of 30:44.90 was good enough for a fifth-place finish. Junior Thomas Sand placed ninth in the same event after crossing the line with his career-best time of 31:25.52.
- Redshirt junior Nate Puder established a personal best in the 10K with a time of 32:05.49.
- Junior Xavier Rogers had the ninth-fastest time in the 200m preliminaries with a 21.64s time.
- With a time of 3:56.91, redshirt sophomore Charlie Slaughter recorded a career-best time in the same event.
- Junior Silje Lindstad advanced to the 1500m finals after crossing the line at 4:42.82.
- Sophomore Rocio Chaparro finished seventh in the 10K (38:10.69), while sophomore Adele Magaud came in ninth in the same event (38:39.69).
- Freshman Grace Wolf clocked in at 1:05.38 in the 400m hurdles preliminaries for a new personal record.
- Senior Cierra Hedrick earned a lifetime best in the 200m preliminaries with a time of 24.60s.

- The Sun Belt Outdoor Championships will continue Saturday at 9 a.m. and Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at the Jaguar Track in Mobile, Ala.
