SCOUTING THE JAGUARS    
– South Alabama (18-12, 6-4 SBC) enters the Texas State series after falling 3-0 at Troy on Wednesday. The Jaguars were held to just two hits against the Trojans.
– Meredith Keel leads the team with a .375 average, which is tied for ninth in the league, while her 33 hits are tied for seventh-most.
– The Ashville, Ohio, native has been even better in Sun Belt play as she holds a .478 batting average through 10 conference games.
– Mackenzie Brasher (.329) has 26 hits on the spring and has been successful in five of her six stolen base attempts.
– Senior infielder Abby Krzywiecki is second on the club with a .339 batting average to go along with four doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI, which rank as second-most on the team. Her .571 slugging percentage is also second highest on the Jaguar roster.
– Junior outfielder Caroline Nichols (.273) leads the team in stolen bases with eight.
– Kvistad leads the team in extra-base hits (13), home runs (6) and holds a .625 slugging percentage. She ranks ninth in the latter category and has also driven in 18 runs.
– Junior infielder Kennedy Cronan has driven in a team-best 19 runs. She is tied for fourth in the conference in doubles with 10, which also ranks 16th nationally in that category.
– As a team, South Alabama ranks 19th nationally in doubles (46) and 48th in doubles per game (1.53).
– Freshman pitcher Olivia Lackie continues to pace the club as she is 11-6 with a pair of saves on the year. In her 107.0 innings of work, Lackie holds a 2.03 earned run average with 144 strikeouts.
– She has tossed seven complete games, including fourth shutouts, while holding opponents to a .177 batting average.
– Coming into the weekend series, she ranks second in the SBC in opponent batting average, innings pitched and strikeouts. She is third in strikeouts looking (35) and sixth in ERA. Her 11 wins are tied for fourth-most in the SBC.
– The Walker, La., native is eighth in strikeouts nationally and her 11 wins are 12th-most in the NCAA this spring.
– Allie Hughen is fourth in the league in ERA (1.86) and opponent batting average (.203), and eighth in innings pitched (64.0).

THE SERIES VS. TEXAS STATE    
– South Alabama and Texas State have met 17 previous times in the all-time series with the Bobcats holding a 15-2 series advantage.
– Texas State and South Alabama squared off at the 2020 NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Fla., with the Bobcats picking up a 5-2 win in the season opener for both clubs.
– The Bobcats won two of three at Jaguar Field during the 2019 season. The first two games of the series were decided by three runs or less with Texas State taking game three, 12-2 in five innings.
– The Jaguars won the first meeting between the two clubs, defeating the Bobcats 8-0 in San Marcos, but the Bobcats won the next 13 meetings until South's 3-1 win in game two of the series in 2019.
