SCOUTING THE JAGUARSÂ Â Â
– South Alabama (25-13, 12-5 SBC) enters the weekend series versus Georgia Southern after sweeping a doubleheader versus ULM in Mobile on Sunday, 4-2 in game one and 5-2 in game two.
– Against ULM, all three of Kamdyn Kvistad's hits went for extra bases as she had a double and a pair of home runs, while driving in three in the series.
– Her three extra-base hits against the Warhawks helped her become just the eighth player in program history to eclipse the 50 extra-base hit mark.
– Kvistad leads the team in extra-base hits (17), home runs (9) and holds a team-best .659 slugging percentage, which is fourth-best in the conference.
– Her nine home runs are tied with four other players for the most in the league. The Lake City, Fla., native has also driven in a teem-high 24 runs.
– The second-inning home run by Kvistad in game two of the doubleheader with ULM (4/25) was the 27th of her career and gave her 97 RBI for her career, moving her into a tie for 10th with former South Alabama player Tara Donaldson (2007-09) on the Jaguar career list in the latter category. Kvistad passed Donaldson her next at-bat with her RBI double in the bottom of the fourth.
– With 27 career home runs, Kvistad now sits one homer away from tying former Jag players Christin Crocker (2009-12) and Kaitlyn Griffith (2012-15) for the program mark (28).
– The home run by the Jaguar catcher also marked the sixth-straight game that South has homer. Over that stretch, USA has recorded eight and the six-game stretch is tied for third-longest streak in program history and the most since the 2019 season.
– Meredith Keel leads the team with a .376 average, which ranks eighth in the league, while her 40 hits are just outside the top 10 among SBC batters. She also has seven sacrifice hits, which are tied for second in the league, and is 5-for-6 in her stolen base attempts.
– The Ashville, Ohio, native has been even better in Sun Belt play as she holds a .415 batting average through 17 conference games.
– Mackenzie Brasher (.367) is right behind Keel and ranked ninth in the SBC in batting average. Brasher has 38 hits and has been successful in seven of her nine stolen base attempts.
– Like Keel, Brasher has been outstanding at the plate in league play as she holds a .404 average in Sun Belt games.
– Keel (12) and Brasher (11) have a combined 23 multi-hit games and are the only two Jaguars in double figures in that category.
– Abby Krzywiecki is third on the club with a .321 batting average to go along with four doubles, six home runs and 23 RBI, which are second on the club.
– Junior outfielder Caroline Nichols (.291) leads the team in stolen bases with 11 – tied for ninth in the Sun Belt.
– Brasher (21) and Nichols (19) are tops on the club in runs scored was they have combined to cross the plate 40 times.
– Junior infielder Kennedy Cronan has driven in 23 runs, and is tied for seventh in the conference in doubles with 12, which ranks seventh in the league in that category. As a team, South Alabama ranks 44th nationally in doubles (54).
– Lackie continues to pace the club as she is 15-6 with three saves this spring. In her 139.0 innings of work, Lackie holds a 1.81 earned run average with 186 strikeouts.
– She has tossed 12 complete games, including five shutouts, while holding opponents to a .178 batting average.
– Coming into the weekend, she leads the Sun Belt in saves, while ranking second in strikeouts, innings pitched, opposing batting average, third in strikeouts looking (49) and ERA, and tied for fourth in wins.
– The Walker, La., native is 13th nationally in strikeouts.
– Lackie has been named the Sun Belt's Pitcher of the Week four times this season.
– Allie Hughen is fifth in the league in both ERA (2.09) and opponent batting average (.209).
